It's difficult not to sound like a "converted desciple" when talking about the Jack Daly experience. In fact he makes such an impact on people's thinking that there is a certain "cringe factor" that exists when you overhear yourself or other people talking about him with people who have not attended one of his seminars. Just search Linkedin, Twitter or Facebook to see what others have said.
Jack is a goal extremist. He is a regular Jack in the Box. He spends a lot of his time travelling around the world and showing other people how to set goals that work, but he also demonstrates a keen ability to walk the talk.
Here are just some of his goals. Enough to make anyone feel a little intimidated. In awe. Is it possible one asks to be that driven?
After interviewing him on an international telephone call, then attending his seminar and spending 4 hours on an exclusive boat with him, I can honestly say that this man is an inspiration. Just past 60 years, he has the energy of a 30 year old, both physically and intellectually.
He completes ironman competitions and presents to large groups of people across the world.
Apart from the obvious things , these are the some of my observations from conversations with him:
- While travelling he creates a "home away from home" attending to every detail even down to the food he eats and also putting his shaving cream in the same spot as at home. This way everything is familiar and all he has to focus on his his appointments.
- He has a solid support network around him. His successful marraige of over 40 years to Bonnie has created a good "division of labour" that works well for both of them. Bonnie is a gourmet cook and takes care of everything allowing Jack to focus.
- Bonnie usually travels with Jack and enjoys some of the thrills of his interesting life. She is an equal partner in his success.
- Jack says quite simply that most things, including increasing sales (the topic of his recent trip to New Zealand) are a "headcase." By this he means if you get your thinking correct, your actions fall into place.
- He writes detailed, copius notes about what he needs to achieve for the day, the week, the month and the year - and he has an action plan around making them all a reality. This is no "New Years resolution" man.
- Jack Daly follows through on his promises, usually earlier than promised. A tough committment given that he promises a lot.
- He is keenly aware of when he fails his own standards- like the story he tells about his "Ironman lesson" - the time that he started in this form of sport with little or no training and came stone last in the swim event. This scarred him in a way that changed his behaviour and actions forever. He invested in training, coaching and more importantly, trained everyday for months after that before radically changing his times in the swim, the cycle and the run. Now he participates in events where he competes with 40 year olds regularly and beats many of them.
Many of our readers will be familiar with the powerpack that our goalgetters use daily to tap into their powerful goals on a daily basis. Jack is the closest living example I have seen of a person who digs deep each day and stretches himself and runs through his goals daily and creates action around his vision.
While for some people , Jacks approach is "extreme". In the world of goal setting enthusiasts, he is an icon and an inspiration. Like you, when I heard other people speak about Jack, I was a little wary. Could this be real? Having experienced his work ethic and ability to enthuse over 400 people for an entire day I can say he is the "real deal."
If you have never been exposed to his inspired , tell-it -like-it-is approach, have a wander through his website. Just don't prejudge until you have read the thousands of recommendations from all over the world.
I have met many goalgetters and interviewed many of them. Jack Daly is by far in a way the most energetic, inspired Jack in a Box that I have ever interviewed.
Thankyou to the executive team at RESULTS.com for inviting me to engage with Jack Daly, introduce him to the Honourable Mayor of Auckland, John Banks and also Ben Young (otherwise known as @bwagy) for interviewing him on Youtube
